Gorakhpur District

The district of Gorakhpur received it's name from Gorakshnath who was the saint of Nath Sampradaya. There is a famous shrine called the Gorakhnath which was built in his honor. The district of Gorakhpur combines a vast stretch of land lying to the north of the Ghagra River. The district of Gorakhpur has a huge population of three million. Around 80% of the population of Gorakhpur lives in the rural areas while roughly 18% live in urban areas. The main cereal produced in Gorakhpur is rice, jawar, bajra, maize, wheat,and barley. Sharing a border with Nepal the district of Gorakhpur houses the famous Gita Press and is the headquarters for the North Eastern Railways. The district of Gorakhpur has radio stations, theaters, restaurants, hotels, cyber cafe, and a vast array of shopping centers. The district of Gorakhpur is one of the best districts in India.
